Kempa is the brand name under which the Balingen sporting goods manufacturer Uhlsport markets its products for handball . The brand was launched in May 2002. The range includes all kinds of needs for handball players; Kempa has been developing handball shoes together with Michelin since 2010 .

The name of the brand is the former German handball player and trainer Bernhard Kempa , the inventor of the Kempa trick .

Kempa is the official supplier of several national handball teams, sponsor partner of club teams and has players as advertising partners under contract:

From 2002 to 2007 and from 2013 to 2020 the company was the supplier to the German national handball team . It is also the supplier of the national teams from Brazil , Bulgaria , England , Estonia , Iceland , Qatar , Russia and Tunisia (as of 2020).

At club level, Kempa is sponsor for HBW Balingen-Weilstetten , TVB 1898 Stuttgart , HSG Konstanz , HSG Bensheim / Auerbach (women), TuS Metzingen (women) and Buxtehuder SV (women) (as of 2020).

In addition, players like Uwe Gensheimer , Kim Ekdahl Du Rietz , Jonas Källman , Grégoire Detrez , Christoph Theuerkauf and Björgvin Páll Gústavsson are advertising media (as of 2020).

Cooperation in product development

Since 2010, Kempa has been collaborating on the development of handball shoes with the tire manufacturer Michelin , which supplies shoe soles with a special rubber compound that is supposed to increase abrasion resistance and static friction . The first shoes based on this collaboration came onto the market in June 2012.
