Patrick Groetzki (born July 4, 1989 in Pforzheim ) is a German handball player . He plays for the Rhein-Neckar Löwen in the handball Bundesliga .

Career

society

The left-hander plays on the right winger and bears the number 24. In 2007 he moved from his hometown club SG Pforzheim / Eutingen to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and signed a three-year contract there. Groetzki is now the Löwen record player in the handball Bundesliga.

National team

He was a player in the German national junior team. In May 2009 he was invited by national coach Heiner Brand to a national team course for the men's national team. He played his first international game on June 17, 2009 in the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart against Belarus . He won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . For the European Championship 2018 he was appointed by national coach Christian Prokop in the 20-man squad, who denies the preparation. On January 7th, he was appointed to the final 16-man squad and thus took part in the EM 2018. He has played 145 games so far in which he scored 368 goals.

Private

Groetzki is 1.89 m tall with a weight of 84 kg. He lives in Pforzheim and attended Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe until summer 2009 . His sister Cathrin also played handball and was under contract with HSG Bensheim / Auerbach .
