Jannik Kohlbacher (born July 19, 1995 in Bensheim ) is a German handball player .

Background and career

school

The Kohlbacher who grew up in Reisen , a district of Birkenau , went to the Martin Luther School in Rimbach . In the upper level of the grammar school, he moved to Reichelsheim to the Georg-August-Zinn-Schule.

Club and selection teams

Kohlbacher started playing handball at HSG Nieder-Liebersbach / Reisen (today HSG Weschnitztal). He was appointed to the district selection of the handball district Darmstadt because of his convincing performance. At the same time, he was supported by the Bergstrasse handball performance center in Bensheim. In January 2007, Kohlbacher was selected as the best circle runner at the Hessen Cup tournament of the C youth district selection by DHB youth trainer Christoph Armbruster and then appointed to the Hessen selection. In 2009 he switched to the C-youth of JSG Wallstadt, a youth game community of TV Großwallstadt and TV Kleinwallstadt. With this team he became Vice-Hesse Champion on March 20, 2010. In the same year Kohlbacher came to the junior academy of the then handball Bundesliga club TV Großwallstadt. With the Großwallstädter B-Jugend he became Bavarian champion and with the A-Jugend he was runner-up. In 2011 he was appointed to the B junior national team. In 2012, the 1.93-meter-tall runner moved to the second division club SG Leutershausen , from where he returned to league rivals TV Großwallstadt after one season. From the 2015/16 season he played for the first division club HSG Wetzlar , with whom he signed a two-year contract.

In summer 2018 he moved to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen . With the Rhein-Neckar Löwen he won the DHB Supercup in 2018.

National team

Jannik Kohlbacher was part of the German youth team, for which he scored 105 goals in 44 international matches . With the national team he won the U-18 European Championship in 2012 and won the bronze medal at the U-19 World Championship in 2013 .

In November 2015, Kohlbacher was appointed by national coach Dagur Sigurðsson to the German national team for the Supercup against Brazil , Serbia and Slovenia . On November 6, 2015, he made his first appearance in the Flensburger Flens-Arena in the 29:20 win over Brazil, to which he contributed two goals. On January 31, 2016, he became European champion in Poland with a 24:17 victory over Spain. For the European Championship 2018 he was appointed by national coach Christian Prokop in the 20-man squad, who denies the preparation. On January 7th, he was appointed to the final 16-man squad and thus took part in the EM 2018.
