Ilija Abutović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Илија Абутовиќ ; born August 2, 1988 in Vrbas ) is a Serbian handball player . He is under contract with the German first division club Rhein-Neckar Löwen .

Career

Ilija Abutović played from 2007 to 2010 for RK Partizan Belgrade and then in the 2010/11 season for the Slovenian club RD Slovan Ljubljana . In 2011 he joined the Macedonian club RK Vardar Skopje , with which he was five times champion and six times cup winner until 2018. He also won the EHF Champions League 2016/17 with Vardar . For the 2018/19 season, the 2.02 meter tall back player moved to German Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar Löwen , with whom he signed a three-year contract.

Abutović is a member of the Serbian national team , with which he participated in the 2016 European Handball Championship in Poland .
