Lukas Nilsson (born November 16, 1996 in Ystad ) is a Swedish handball player .

Career

Nilsson played in the Elitserien i handboll för herrar , the highest Swedish league, for the club Ystads IF HF , for which he also played in the EHF European Cup in the 2015/16 season. For the 2016/17 season he signed a three-year contract with the German record champions THW Kiel . In 2017 and 2019 he won the DHB Cup with THW Kiel, the EHF Cup in 2019 and the German championship in 2020. In summer 2020 he switched to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen .

In the summer of 2015, the 1.92 meter tall backcourt player took part in the U-21 World Cup in Brazil with the Swedish junior national team. Nilsson, who has played 73 international matches for the Swedish national team so far , has been appointed to the squad for the 2016 European Championships in Poland by the Swedish national coaching team Ola Lindgren and Staffan Olsson . He also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
