history
The company started in Hamburg in 1923 with the production of studded soccer shoes . The production site was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. In 1956 Bernhard Weckenbrock took over the Hummel brand and relocated production to Kevelaer on the Lower Rhine. When indoor handball became more and more popular in the 1960s, many players competed in sports shoes from the small brand. In 1975 the company was taken over by the previous Danish importers and the brand became Danish. In the 1980s and 1990s, Hummel equipped well-known international football teams such as Benfica Lisbon , Real Madrid , Tottenham Hotspur , Feyenoord Rotterdam and Brøndby IF as well as the Danish Football Association with jerseys .
In 1999, Hummel was taken over by Christian Stadil
In 2016 it was announced that Hummel will again equip the Danish national football team from the 2016 Summer Olympics .
