Thomas Bühner (born April 13, 1962 in Riesenbeck ) is a German chef .

Career

Bühner completed his training in the Swiss house in Paderborn . In 1983 he moved to Günter Scherrer in the Hilton in Düsseldorf , in 1984 to Heinz Wehmann in the Landhaus Scherrer in Hamburg , to the Grand Cru restaurant in Lippstadt and to the Jörg Müller restaurant in Westerland on Sylt. 1989 Bühner finally went as Chef de Partie to Harald Wohlfahrt in the Schwarzwaldstube to Baiersbronn .

In 1991 he became head chef at the La Table restaurant in Dortmund , which was awarded a Michelin star in 1996 . The second followed in 1998. In 2001, Gault-Millau named Bühner “Newcomer of the Year” and only five years later “Chef of the Year”.

From April 2006 to July 2018 Thomas Bühner managed the restaurant la vie in Osnabrück . In 2011 it was awarded three Michelin stars. In July 2018 the owner of the restaurant, the Georgsmarienhütte group of companies , announced that the restaurant had been closed due to an "organizational realignment" of the company.

After the closure of “la vie”, Bühner went into business for himself. He continues to live in Osnabrück and works from there worldwide as a consultant for restaurants and as a guest chef.

Thomas Bühner has been married since 2016.

In 2014, Bühner was a guest judge on the second season of the cooking show The Taste .

In 2018 he took part in the VOX show The Perfect Professional Dinner .

Engagement in education

Since 2011, Bühner has been a patron of the CookUOS (pronounced: [kʊk] [uːoːɛs]) project at the University of Osnabrück, which was awarded by the German UNESCO Commission and is essentially a student project .
