The 2nd handball Bundesliga (women) also started in the 2006/07 season with a northern and a southern relay.

Promotion play-offs were carried out again. The TV Beyeröhde and the HSG Sulzbach / Leidersbach made it to the 1st Bundesliga .

Although the Metzingen women had qualified for promotion to the Bundesliga with four wins in the playoff round, they had previously used an ineligible player in the double round of the 2nd BL South.
