The Ballsportverein Sachsen Zwickau eV is a German women's handball club from the Saxon city of Zwickau , whose 1st team plays in the 2nd Bundesliga .
The Union
The association has its origin in the BSG activist Karl Marx Zwickau . In 1969 the entire team was taken over by the "BSG Sachsenring Zwickau", handball section. Except for two seasons, the team was always represented in the top GDR league. On August 8, 1990, the spin-off from the BSG and the re-establishment of an independent women's handball club, which today has around 200 members, more than two thirds of them children and young people. Well-known players such as Michaela Schanze , Mandy Kerkossa , Anja Unger, Kerstin Mühlner, Kristina Richter , Anke Schulz and Isabel Henker emerged from the successful youth department of the club, which won the German A youth championship in 1994 . The club plays its home games in the Zwickau-Neuplanitz sports hall.
