DHB Cup 2017/18

The 2018/19 DHB Women's Cup was the 45th edition of the most important German indoor handball cup competition for women. The 2019 DHB Cup winner was Thuringian HC , who defeated SG BBM Bietigheim in the final with 24:23. Defending champion VfL Oldenburg was eliminated in the second round.

The league affiliations listed correspond to those of the 2017/18 season. According to the implementation regulations, they were relevant for the determination of home rights in the cup rounds up to and including the round of 16: If two teams from clubs, one of which was entered in a higher division, met each other, the other team had home rights. In all other cup championship games, the club drawn first had home rights.

Main rounds

1 round

None of the 13 Bundesliga teams of the 2017/18 season who were not relegated took part in the first round . The draw took place on June 30, 2018 as part of the general assembly of the women's handball league in Rotenburg an der Fulda , with the individual games drawn from four regionally divided groups of lots by Berndt Dugall , the former CEO of the HBF. The 2018/19 DHB Cup games began on August 30, 2018 with the game TVE Netphen against HC Gelpe / Strombach; the other encounters of the 1st round took place on the weekend 1st / 2nd September 2018. The winners moved into the 2nd round.

1TSV Wietze withdrew its team from the Lüneburg regional league and did not compete in the DHB Cup either. The originally drawn match between TSV Wietze and SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin was canceled by the DHB; Schwerin came into the 2nd round without a fight.

2nd round

In addition to the winning teams in the 1st round, the 13 Bundesliga teams from the 2017/18 season who were not relegated also took part in the 2nd round . The games of the 2nd round were drawn on September 4, 2018 in the HBF office in Dortmund; " Losfee " was the former German national player Stella Kramer . The drawing took place in two groups of lots, which were divided according to geographical criteria. The games of the 2nd round were on October 3rd ( German Unity Day ) and on the weekend of 6/7. Quarter finals

Following the Bundesliga match between Borussia Dortmund and Buxtehuder SV, the quarter-finals were drawn by lots on November 7, 2018 by Reinhard Rauball , President of the DFL Football League . On January 23, 2019, the two semi-finals of the Final Four were drawn after the top Bundesliga match between SG BBM Bietigheim and Thuringian HC . Former soccer goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand , who won the German championship with VfB Stuttgart in 2007 , drew the lots .
