↑ 2nd Bundesliga 2018/19 |
The 2018/19 season of the 3rd division in women's handball was the ninth in its history. In four seasons with a total of 48 teams, the unofficial north, east, west and south German championship and qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga have been played since September 15, 2018 . The last matchday of the 2018/19 season took place on May 1, 2019. The subsequent relegation relegation was ultimately invalid due to the withdrawal of several teams.
mode
The 3rd women's division consists of four seasons, the composition of which was based on geographical factors. A double round tournament is played in each season . The four season winners are promoted to the second Bundesliga. The three last-placed teams of each season are relegated to the corresponding major leagues . Deviating from this general stipulation, there may be other promotion and relegation scenarios that are bindingly regulated in the DHB game rules and the implementation regulations.
North season
The TV Hannover-Badenstedt was superior in the north season, but did not apply for a license for the 2nd Bundesliga for economic reasons. The TSG Wismar could participate as a table at the Tenth relegation relegation, but refrained and announced the withdrawal from competitive sports. During the ongoing relegation, the MTV 1860 Altlandsberg announced the withdrawal from the 3rd division for financial reasons.

Season east
The TS Herzogenaurach took over the vacated in the third league place the retracted in June 2018 team of SG Menden Sauerland wolves because Herzogenaurach in the relegation relegation 2017/18 was able to secure the first place substitutes. For "geographical reasons", Herzogenaurach was assigned to the East Staffel; Germania Fritzlar was transferred to the West Season by the game committee of the 3rd division.
The HC Leipzig was sovereign master of Season East and was promoted to the 2. Bundesliga. The final placement of the ranks 8 to 10 was decided by the direct comparison because of the equality of points, so that TSG Ober-Eschbach had to take part in the relegation. There the “Pirates” were able to avoid relegation.

TSG Ober-Eschbach remained in the 3rd league in terms of sport, while TG 88 Pforzheim and TVE Netphen should have been relegated to the corresponding top leagues. However, these two teams also remained in the league, as shortly after the end of the season of MTV 1860 Altlandsberg his team withdrew and second division relegated DJK / MJC Trier - after the bankruptcy petition filed in April 2019 - also withdrew his notification for the 3rd League West.
