The TSV Haunstetten is a popular sports club in Augsburg with departments for Aikido , skiing , badminton , basic sport, basketball , ice skating , football , handball , karate , athletics , chess , swimming , squash , curling , Taijiquan , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball . With around 3000 members, it is one of the largest sports clubs in Augsburg.

history

In 1892, the club was founded by 21 sport-loving men under the name Turnverein Haunstetten (TV Haunstetten) . As the name suggests, the gymnastics department was launched first. The gymnastics took place in the restaurants Sonne and Jägerhaus until 1914 . The first statute was drawn up in 1895. The first club flag was hoisted a year later.

The first gym was built from 1914 to 1916 and is now the old gym . Among other things, it was used as a hospital during the First World War (1914-1918). During the Second World War, four air strikes destroyed the gym complex, so that it had to be moved back to the old premises.

In 1946 the name was changed to gymnastics and sports club Haunstetten . Reconstruction of the gym began a year later and was completed in 1954. By then there were already seven departments at TSV. In addition to gymnastics, football (since 1920), mountaineering / hiking (1928), skiing (1928), tennis (1934) and table tennis (1952) could be played. There were also: handball (1958), athletics (1969), ice sports (1973), stick shooters (1973), swimming (1974) and basketball (1974).

In 1974 the Haunstetten chess club joined TSV Haunstetten as an independent department and, with the help of Hermann Höltl, was able to realize the wishes for a chess center. The chess department has been one of the most successful in Bavaria since then and currently plays in the Bavarian State League.

New foundations followed through volleyball (1978), badminton (1989) and aikido (1999). The last department so far was founded in 2009 with Basic Sports.

The construction of the Albert-Loderer-Halle was completed from 1987 to 1988. In 2007 a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the hall.

Handball

After the establishment of the department in 1958 one played for many years in the Bayernliga (Oberliga). It was only after almost 50 years that the first women's team made it to the regional league in the 2004/2005 season. The following year they achieved a good 4th place in the East relay, which qualified for participation in the promotion round. This promotion round ended with a good 7th place. The following year they played in the relegation round, but were able to confidently hold the class with a 2nd place. It was not until the 2007/2008 season, in which the promotion and relegation rounds were abolished, that they were relegated to 12th place in the Bayern League, and they were promoted to the 3rd division (formerly Regionalliga) in the 2010/2011 season. In the 2013/14 season, the team finished 2nd and qualified for the relegation round. TSV Haunstetten successfully prevailed in the relegation against TuS Lintfort and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga .

The first men's team has been playing in the Bavarian Oberhaus (Bavarian League) since the 2007/2008 season. It is worth mentioning that the good youth work of TSV Haunstetten has already brought out a lot of talent. After Andrea Langner (born 1969), Barbara Hetmanek (`88) and Patrizia Horner (` 94), Sarah Irmler (`97) is the fourth youth player in the service of TSV Haunstetten to receive national honors.

Soccer

The soccer department was also very successful in the 2004/2005 season. After many years in the district class, district league and district league, it was the first time after ten years of abstinence that it was possible to climb back into the district league. After holding the class the following year, however, after many exits, one had to relegate to the district league and then even to the district league. From 2012 until relegation again in 2018, TSV Haunstetten played again in the Schwaben Süd district league.

Table tennis

The table tennis department was founded in 1952. After a few years, the women's team played in the highest German league, the Oberliga, before the team was no longer registered for this class in 1959. Well-known players were Ursel Gesswein and the Bavarian youth champion and German national player Heide Dauphin .

The sports facilities of TSV Haunstetten include the Albert-Loderer-Halle and its soccer field, the bowling alleys and the training and rehabilitation center, the following facilities: The Haunstetten sports facility with the artificial ice stadium, which was rebuilt in 2009, and the shooting range, the MatchPoint tennis facility and the Haunstetter indoor swimming pool with the soccer field R9, the Haunstetten sports hall and the TSV gym (old gym) and, last but not least, the Hermann Höltl chess center.
