The handball club Damen Gröbenzell e. V. is a handball club from the community of Gröbenzell in the Upper Bavarian district of Fürstenfeldbruck . He gained fame primarily through his first women's team, which played in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season.

history

The club was founded in 1972 as the Dambach Gröbenzell handball club. In the following years, the first women's team recorded numerous successes and finally rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1990 , where they could hold out for three seasons. After the withdrawal of the main sponsor (Dambach), the club was renamed the handball club Damen Gröbenzell .

In 2005 the B-Jugend became South German champions. After several seasons in the Bayern League , the first women's team became Bavarian champions and cup winners in 2013 and rose to the third division . In 2017 the women's team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.
