history

1994–2011: beginnings of the HV Chemnitz

The club, founded in 1994, played in the Oberliga Sachsen for a long time, but never made it to the third-class regional league . In the 2009/10 season, the Chemnitz women did not manage to qualify for the newly founded Oberliga Mitteldeutschland, but instead had to relegate to the newly founded Sachsenliga as the ninth-placed team.

In the first season of the Chemnitz women with 40: 4 points just about the first place before the SC Markranstädt and rose to the Oberliga Mitteldeutschland . This is the first time in 17 years that a Chemnitz handball team is playing in national handball.

2011–2014: In the middle of the league

As a climber, the team from Chemnitz was able to establish itself directly in the Oberliga Mitteldeutschland . With 27:17 points they ended the season in fifth place on a midfield place. In the following season, the Chemnitz women were able to confirm this result and finish the second season in the Oberliga Mitteldeutschland again in fifth place.

In the 2013/14 season, the team did not finish fifth, but was able to confirm their previous performance with sixth place. This sixth place is the worst placement of the Chemnitz women in the Oberliga Mitteldeutschland.

2014–2017: On the way to the 3rd division

In the 2014/15 season in the Oberliga Mitteldeutschland, the Chemnitz women fought for the top positions. In the end they took third place behind the superior champions SC Markranstädt and TSV Niederndodeleben with the same points due to the direct comparison.

In the following season, the team was able to improve again and secured second place behind SC Markranstädt. They finished the season with 19 wins and only 3 losses. In the 2016/17 season, the Chemnitz women played a perfect season and secured promotion to the third division with 44: 0 points .

Since 2017: relegation battle in the 3rd division

In the first third division season, the Chemnitz women were grouped into the eastern relay and occupied tenth place, which would actually have meant direct relegation. Because the 2nd Bundesliga was increased to 16 teams again and TSV Kandel did not apply for a license for the 3rd league, a relegation relegation was carried out, in which the tenth placed of the four seasons took part. HV Chemnitz met TS Herzogenaurach from the southern season. After the team was able to prevail in the first leg with 26:24, a 16:17 defeat in the second leg was enough for the Chemnitz team to stay up.

In the following season, the team from Chemnitz had to fight long to stay in the league. It was only on the last day of the eastern season that it was decided who would occupy the three relegation places. With a win against the bottom of the table HSG Weiterstadt / Braunshardt / Worfelden and a mistake by the competition, the Chemnitz women secured their place in the league with ninth place.

Venue

HV Chemnitz plays its third division games in the Sachsenhalle Chemnitz, which, according to the city of Chemnitz, has a capacity of 650 seats. The other teams of the HV Chemnitz also use four other sports halls in the city of Chemnitz.
