After a twelfth place in the 1971/72 promotion season , relegation followed a year later as the penultimate. After the missed direct re-promotion, the KSV rose in 1976 to the district league and disappeared from the upper divisions. In the meantime, the Königsborner SV had slipped down to the district league A. Handball

In 1928 a handball department was established in the Colonie gymnastics club. This split off on May 17, 2001 as Königsborner Spielverein - Handball . Three years later, the KSV handball players were relegated again from the regional league and slipped into the association league. After a short league guest game in the 2011/12 season, the team managed to return to the Oberliga Westfalen in 2014.

The Königsborn women qualified twice for the DHB Cup. When they first participated in the 2006/07 season , the team received a bye for the first round and then retired after a 30:35 defeat at TV Lenzinghausen . Without a loss point, the Königsborner finished the joint final with the Regionalliga Nord and rose to the Oberliga Nord. The finals for the German regional league championship were lost against SV Bayreuth . In 1983 the KSV was fourth in the Oberliga Nord and qualified for the relegation round to the 2nd Bundesliga. There the team was bottom of the group and missed promotion. For financial reasons, the department was eventually closed. The successor club was EHC Unna, founded in 1983 . This stopped the game in 1998. Today ice hockey is played at the Königsborner JEC .
