Marco Antwerpen (born October 5, 1971 in Unna ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .
Career
Antwerp was among others for SC Fortuna Cologne and Preußen Münster . He began his coaching career at Rot Weiss Ahlen . In the 2016/17 season , Antwerp coached FC Viktoria Köln in the Regionalliga West and led the team to the championship. In the relegation he failed with his team at FC Carl Zeiss Jena . On December 11, 2017, the cooperation was ended amicably, as Antwerp took over the third division Prussia Münster from Benno Möhlmann the following day . His contract in Münster originally ran until the end of the 2017/18 season . By keeping the league, he was automatically extended by one year.
In January 2019 Antwerp and his assistant Kurtulus Öztürk announced that they would be leaving the club at the end of the third division 2018/19 season .
In November 2019 Antwerp was presented as the successor to the released head coach Christian Flüthmann at Eintracht Braunschweig . The team was in 5th place in the table before matchday 16 and was three points behind a direct promotion place. After a 3-2 win against Waldhof Mannheim , Antwerp rose to the second division with Braunschweig at the end of the season and thus celebrated its greatest sporting success to date. The contract, which expired at the end of the season, was not extended despite the promotion.
