Giuseppe "Billy" Reina (born April 15, 1972 in Unna ) is a former German- Italian soccer player .
Career
He started as a footballer at the age of twelve at SV 07/08 Rot-Weiß Unna and moved to Königsborner SV in 1990 . In 1993 he came to the time in the Bundesliga playing SG Wattenscheid 09 . In the 1993/94 season he scored 8 goals in 16 games for the Wattenscheider amateur eleven in the then third-class Oberliga Westfalen and in the following season moved up to the second division squad of the profile eleven relegated from the elite class. In this he stayed until relegation to the regional league , which could not be avoided at the end of the 1995/96 season .
In 1996 he moved to Arminia Bielefeld in the first division . Three years later he went to Borussia Dortmund , where he celebrated his greatest sporting successes. In 2002 he became German champions with Borussia and reached the UEFA Cup final . From February 2004 he played for Hertha BSC and from summer 2005 for Sportfreunde Siegen .
He didn't get a new contract for the 2006/2007 season. After being out of a club for some time, he ended his career.
After taking on the German citizenship in August 1999, Giuseppe Reina completed an assignment for the A2 national team of the DFB in September 1999 against France. He played a total of 171 Bundesliga games and scored 34 goals. He also scored 25 goals in 103 second division games.
He got his nickname Billy from his younger sister, who Giuseppe couldn't pronounce and therefore called him "Billy".
From 2010 to 2012 he coached the A-youth of SV Holzwickede . In January 2012, however, Rüdiger Hesse took over the post.
