Michaela Schanze (born March 30, 1973 in Zwickau ) is a German handball player .

The 1.87 meter tall goalkeeper played for the clubs HC Leipzig , SV Union Halle-Neustadt and Thuringian HC until the end of her career in 2009 . She later joined the Schlotheimer SV club.

In her international career, Schanze played 129 games in the German national team . The greatest success in her international career was winning the 1993 World Cup . At the 1996 Olympic Games , she finished 6th in the German selection.

Schanze trained a youth team at Thuringian HC from 2012. In 2019 she prepared the goalkeepers of the district selection HFA Nordthüringen for the state selection inspection.
