The SVG Celle Handball is a sports club from the Lower Saxony Celle . His women's handball team played several seasons in the handball Bundesliga .

The Union

The parent club SV Garßen has existed since 1923, women's handball has been practiced in the club since around 1970. From around 1990, one can speak of competitive handball in clubs. The first team rose several times. In 1998 she managed to move into the second Bundesliga, in which she played until 2009. In 2009 they were promoted to the first Bundesliga. There, however, the team had to relegate back to the 2nd Bundesliga after one season. There he was immediately promoted back to the House of Lords. The second team won the league in 2011.

The handball players of the SVG

The handball department of the sports club currently has around 145 members and only has female teams in play. In view of the economic risks associated with competitive sports , the SVG Celle Handball Spielbetriebs- und Sportmarketing GmbH was founded and started its business operations at the beginning of the 2005/06 game year. SVG Celle had to withdraw its team from the 2nd Bundesliga on August 10, 2017 and file for bankruptcy.

The club plays its home games in the HBG sports hall in the Heese district of Celle.
