The women's handball Bundesliga 2011/12 was the 27th season of the women's handball Bundesliga .
After VfL Sindelfingen withdrew , 11 teams played in the main round for a place in the play-offs for the German championship. The best eight teams played there for the German championship in 2012. The Thuringian HC defended the championship title. HSG Bad Wildungen and SVG Celle were promoted to the new season .
In addition, five teams competed in European competitions.

Play-offs German championship
In play-off games, if there is a tie, the better goal difference counts. If this is also the same, the higher number of goals scored away ( away goal rule ) decides . If there is still no winner, the winner can be determined by a 7-meter throw immediately after the respective play-off second leg.
Quarter finals
In the quarter-finals, the table first scored on the table eighth, the table second on the table seventh, the table third on the table sixth and the table fourth on the table fifth.
The first 4 places had the right to play the second leg at home.
