Herbert Müller (born September 3, 1962 in Timișoara ) is a former German handball player who currently works as a handball trainer.

Career

Herbert Müller grew up in the Romanian village of Variaș . He played between 1976 and 1980 for the Romanian club Politehnica Timișoara. In 1980 he emigrated to Germany. In Germany he played for TSG Augsburg 85 .

Müller trained the women's team of the DJK Augsburg-Hochzoll from 1988 . He then coached 1. FC Nürnberg between 1999 and 2008 . During this period Nuremberg won the German championship in 2005, 2007 and 2008, the DHB Cup in 2004 and 2005 and the EHF Challenge Cup in 2004 . Since 2004 he has also coached the Austrian national team . In 2008 Müller took over the coaching position of the Romanian club CS Urban Brașov. Two years later he moved to the German Bundesliga club Thuringian HC . Under his leadership, the THC won the German championship 7 times, the DHB Cup 3 times and the DHB Supercup 3 times .
