The DJK Augsburg-Hochzoll is a sports club from Augsburg , which is a member of the DJK sports association ("German youth force"). The club is known for years of top-class sport in the fields of fistball , handball , soccer and volleyball .

The club has around 1,400 members in ten departments and is one of the largest sports clubs in Augsburg. It was created in 1999 from the merger of the sports clubs DJK Hochzoll 62 and DJK Sportbund . The Sternschützen (recorded in 1976 by the DJK Hochzoll 62 ) as the oldest division of the club can look back on more than 100 years of tradition, making the club one of the oldest sports clubs in Augsburg. Martin Doller is the chairman of the association. The club has club grounds in Augsburger Zugspitzstraße including a restaurant with bowling alleys and a shooting range, its own triple gym, the Hochzoller Twelve Apostles hall , which has been extensively renovated, and a beach volleyball facility in the outdoor pool on Friedberger Straße.

Fistball

The DJK Sportbund Augsburg was a leader in German fistball for years. From 1972 to 1982 the club played in the Bundesliga fistball and was able to achieve third place several times. In the course of the loss of importance of the fistball, the department later disbanded.

volleyball

The women's volleyball team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga South at the end of the 1990s. Under the name of a sponsor (DJK Augsburg-Harlekin), under coach Peter Götz, he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga, where the game was then carried out by transferring the team to an outsourced club, VC Harlekin Augsburg. In 2004 the forced relegation of VC Harlekin Augsburg came due to financial difficulties from the 1st Bundesliga. After a fresh start, the DJK Augsburg Hochzoll made it back to the 2nd Bundesliga. Due to concerns of the club, the game operation was again outsourced and operated independently by an investor. Differences with the investor caused the DJK Augsburg Hochzoll to withdraw from the game after the 2010/11 season, despite sporting success. Focusing on ambitious amateur sport, the DJK plays with its first women's team in the Third League East . The team, which was trained by the coaches Fabian Brenner and Christian Hurler, established itself in the third division in the 2014/15 season and is one of the major players in volleyball in the region. Nikolaj Roppel has been training the team since the 2015/16 season and led it to the top of the league. The runner-up title was won again in the 2016/17 season.

The DJK Augsburg-Hochzoll operates one of the most beautiful beach volleyball facilities in Bavaria in the Fribbe outdoor pool in Augsburg . The facility now comprises five fields and was also the venue for the Bavarian Beach Volleyball Championships in 2015, 2016 and 2018, some of which took place in the Fribbe and some on specially raised fields on Rathausplatz.

Handball

The women's handball team has played in the 2nd Handball Bundesliga South since 1993. In 1994 he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. However, this was refused by the DHB because of an alleged formal error when substituting. After that, the DJK did not succeed in re-qualifying for the 1st Bundesliga. The club failed several times, most recently in 2001, extremely narrowly. The club also had to withdraw from the professional field in the handball sector. The department is being rebuilt through continuous youth work. Currently (as of 06/2019) two men's teams (district league and district class), a women's team (district league), a male A-youth, a male C-youth, a male D-youth and an E-youth and minis take part in the game.

Soccer

The DJK Hochzoll also has a football department, whose first men's team played in the A-class Augsburg Ost in 2018/19. After the end of the season, however, the team was withdrawn from the game.
