Mariana Ferreira Lopes (born December 9, 1994 in Aveiro , Portugal ) is a Portuguese handball player who is under contract with the Bundesliga club Thuringian HC .

Career

Mariana Lopes started playing handball at the age of 10 in her hometown at Alavarium. From 2011 the back court player ran for the women's team from Alavarium. With Alavarium she won the Portuguese championship in 2013, 2014 and 2015. In the summer of 2016, she joined the Swedish first division club Boden Handboll IF . In the Svensk HandbollsElit she scored a total of 209 goals in two seasons. In the summer of 2018, Lopes moved to the German Bundesliga club SV Union Halle-Neustadt . A year later she moved to league competitor Thuringian HC .

Lopes took part with the Portuguese youth and junior national team in the 2011 U-17 European Championship , the 2012 U-18 World Championship , the 2013 U-19 European Championship and the 2014 U-20 World Championship . She is now a member of the Portuguese senior team .
