Fausto Bacchetti

Fausto Bacchetti (born May 12, 1917 in Chieti ; † 2000 ) was an Italian diplomat .

He was the son of Teresa (nee Vescovali) and Tito Bacchetti. In 1950 he married Amata Martorelli. They had a daughter.

Education

In 1938, he graduated in law at the University of La Sapienza from.

Career

From 1944 to 1946 he was the private secretary of the Deputy Prime Minister. In 1948 he joined the Foreign Service. From 1951 to 1956 he was employed at the embassy in London . From 1952 to 1964 he was employed by the North Atlantic Council . From 1964 to 1965 he worked at the embassy in Paris . In 1965 he returned to the North Atlantic Council as Chief of Staff of NATO Secretary General Manlio Giovanni Brosio , first in Paris and after the French decision to withdraw from NATO, until 1971 in Brussels . From 1971 to 1974 he was Deputy Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome . From 1974 to 1978 he was ambassador to Tel Aviv . From 1978 to 1980 he was permanent representative of the Italian government to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. From 1980 to 1983 he was ambassador in Vienna.
