Stefano Baldi

Stefano Baldi (born April 8, 1961 in Città della Pieve ) is an Italian diplomat who has been ambassador to Sofia since September 19, 2016 .

Education

Degree in Social Science from the University of Florence . In 1986, he completed his studies in economics at the University of La Sapienza from.

Career

In 1989 he joined the foreign service. In 1991 he became deputy head of mission in Dar es Salaam . In 1995 he was appointed Secretary of the First Class at the United Nations Office in Geneva . In 1999 he worked at the Centro Cifra e Telecomunicazioni and headed the statistics department. In 2002 he became a first-class delegate at the UN headquarters and sat in the session of the I Commission of the General Assembly on disarmament issues and the nuclear non-proliferation treaty . In 2006 he was employed by the representation at the EU Commission in Brussels with common foreign and security policy.

Scientific activity

From 2010 he headed the department for scientific and technological cooperation. In 2011 he was appointed Ministre plénipotentiaire and Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italy) . Since 2014 he has headed the training department at the Foreign Ministry. He is also a trainer for diplomatic management and communication. Stefano Baldi supports the foreign service with academic activities. He is the author of numerous books. His recent research and publications have focused on the use of new technology and social media in diplomacy, diplomacy management and books by Italian diplomats. He is the creator and director of the Diplo Learning Corner training blog and Immaginario diplomatico website, dedicated to historical photos of Italian diplomats.

From 2013 to 2016 he was editor of a weekly radio program "Diplomazia e Dintorni", which he designed and dedicated to the profession of diplomat, at the Internet radio of the Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli ( Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali ).
