Melinda Anamaria Geiger (born March 28, 1987 in Baia Mare ) is a former Romanian handball player .

Career

Melinda Geiger played for the Romanian club HCM Baia Mare from 2003 . In the summer of 2010, the back court player joined the CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea . With Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea she won both the Romanian championship and the Romanian cup in her first season. After Geiger received only a few parts of the game in the following season, she was loaned to the German Bundesliga club Thuringian HC in February 2012 for the remainder of the 2011/12 season. With the THC she won the German championship. In the 2012/13 season she was loaned to HCM Baia Mare. With Baia Mare she won the Romanian Cup in 2013. Geiger then had a permanent contract with HCM Baia Mare, with whom she won the championship in 2014 and the Romanian Cup in 2014 and 2015. In the summer of 2016, she joined the French first division club Brest Bretagne Handball . At the end of December 2017, she moved to the Hungarian club Siófok KC . In February 2019, she ended her career due to knee problems.

Geiger was a member of the Romanian national team . With Romania she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 2010 and the bronze medal at the World Championships in 2015 . She was a member of the Romanian contingent for the Olympic Games  in Rio de Janeiro .
