Clubul Sportiv Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea (short: CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea ) was a Romanian handball club from Râmnicu Vâlcea . In the 40-year history of the club, the women's team celebrated 19 championships, 14 cup wins and four European titles.
history
The association was founded on June 27, 1973 under the name AS Chimistul Râmnicu Vâlcea . In the 1981/82 season, the team was promoted to the Liga Naţională, the highest Romanian division. In the 1983/84 season, the club first took part in a European competition and won the EHF Cup . In the following seasons, the club always qualified for a European competition, except for the 1987/88 season. In 1989 Râmnicu Vâlcea won the championship and the second EHF Cup for the first time. On October 1, 1989, the club was renamed CSM Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea . The team established itself from then on in the Romanian top and was able to win national titles almost every year in the following years. On May 1, 1997, the club was renamed for the last time. In the 2012/13 season, the club ran into financial difficulties. Exactly 40 years after the association was founded, the dissolution of the association was announced. The league license was awarded to the newly founded club HC Oltenia .
