The best eight teams played there for the German championship . The Thuringian HC defended the championship title.

Play-offs German championship

In play-off games, if there is a tie, the better goal difference counts. If this is also the same, the higher number of goals scored away ( away goal rule ) decides . If there is still no winner, the winner can be determined by a 7-meter throw immediately after the respective play-off second leg.

Quarter finals

In the quarter-finals, the table first on the table eighth, the table second on the table seventh, the table third on the table sixth and the fourth on the table fifth.
The first 4 places have the right to play the second leg at home.
The first legs will take place on 6/7/10. April 2013, the second leg on 12./13./14./17. April 2013.
