The EWE Arena (spelling: EWE ARENA) is a complex of two multifunctional arenas in the Lower Saxon city of Oldenburg , which is attached to the Weser-Ems-Halle .
The arena is named after the energy supplier EWE from Oldenburg. Both arenas bear the name EWE Arena , to differentiate only large and small are placed in front of the name. This concept is also made clear in the EWE Arena logo. The blue rectangle stands for the large arena and the yellow circle for the small arena.

The Small EWE Arena was opened in June 2005 and can hold up to 4100 spectators at concerts, 3100 spectators for basketball and 2300 spectators for handball games. Characteristic is the circular construction of the arena with a diameter of around 70 meters. In addition, the arena has a 35 meter long and 5 meter high photovoltaic system , which is installed on rails on the side of the outer wall, follows the solar radiation and at the same time protects the inside of the hall from the sun's rays.
The Kleine EWE Arena is the home ground for the women's handball Bundesliga club VfL Oldenburg . Until the move to the large EWE Arena in April 2013, the men's basketball Bundesliga club EWE Baskets Oldenburg also played its home games here. In 2014 and 2015, the Kleine EWE-Arena hosted the German indoor championships in men's fistball .
The ARD transfers since 2005 as part of the sports show boxing events from the hall. In June 2006 the German men's national volleyball team played a game against the Czech Republic as part of the European Championship qualification . Furthermore, concerts, shows, exhibitions, trade fairs, congresses and meetings take place in the hall.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the city of Oldenburg examined the modernization of the hall complex of the Weser-Ems-Halle . As a result, which is called “Project 2014”, it was decided to build a new multifunctional arena and demolish several old halls.
After space was created with the demolition of Halls 5 and 6 of the Weser-Ems-Hallen, the construction of the large EWE Arena (also called "Weser-Ems-Arena" during the planning phase) began in February 2012 . April 2013 after 14 months of construction with a BBL game between EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Telekom Baskets Bonn . Since then, the arena has been the new home ground for EWE Baskets.
Compared to the small EWE Arena, the large one offers another significant increase in space. It holds more than 6,000 spectators for basketball games, 5,500 for handball games and 7,300 for boxing matches. Even riding events can be watched by over 4200 spectators. The arena also offers space for up to 8,000 spectators for concerts.
Since the game between EWE Baskets and FC Bayern Munich on October 20, 2019, the basketball capacity has been 6200 spectators.
