Javorina

Javorina in Okres Kežmarok ( Prešovský kraj ) was a municipality founded on January 1, 1953 as a military training area and military base in eastern Slovakia . In 1980 it officially had 2 residents, in 2004 none.

The area is located in the Leutschauer Mountains ( Levočské vrchy in Slovak ) and is named after the Javorina mountain (German knee flexor ), which lies within the area.

The community was created in 1953 by merging the following communities:

and by slamming parts of 19 other communities. The community had an area of ​​316.236 km² and was divided into five cadastral communities.

Its use as a military training area officially ended on December 31, 2005, but the military area was not disbanded until January 1, 2011. The area was divided between 16 municipalities, which means that the area of ​​Okresy Kežmarok , Stará Ľubovňa , Sabinov and Levoča has also changed. The earlier planned re-establishment of the municipality Ľubické Kúpele did not take place.
