The Integrated Comprehensive School Mainz-Bretzenheim in the Bretzenheim district of Mainz has had the status of an elite football school since December 15, 2010 and is a team school . The school maintains close cooperation with some Mainz sports clubs, such as 1. FSV Mainz 05 , TSV Schott Mainz or the university sports club of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In addition to the sporting cooperations, the Mainz comprehensive school has received further awards in recent years. Since November 20, 2009, it has officially been given the title of School Without Racism - School With Courage .

The Mainz State Theater and Johannes Gutenberg University are also available as partners to the IGS and work together with the comprehensive school in various areas.

The integrated comprehensive school now consists of four parts of the building. The old and new school buildings house classrooms, lounges and the school administration. The school also has two sports halls.

New construction of the sports hall and canteen

In 2012, a new sports hall, coupled with a cafeteria for all-day operation and various lounges, was structurally completed and opened by Mayor Michael Ebling (SPD) of Mainz .

Aircraft noise

An aircraft noise measuring station has been located on the roof of the new sports hall since 2013 . This is to investigate the noise exposure and the associated effects on the learning behavior of the students.
