Wrestling

The oldest sports group in Korb are without a doubt the wrestlers. Sports operations began in 1904. The entry in the association register took place in 1905 under the name AC Germania Korb. With the inauguration of the flag of the Korb-Steinreinach sports club, the term "Korber Löwen" was also created. The biblical fight of Daniel in the den of lions can be seen on the athlete flag. Another name change followed until the wrestlers found a home in the SC Korb like all sports departments via the VfL Korb.

You had to wait almost 100 years in Korb for the first German champion. In 2014 in Berlin, Tim Oswald was the best in his class (A-youth, 50 kg, freestyle). Yvonne Englich achieved the greatest successes for the club . She was German champion several times, but never made it for the Korber Löwen. Nevertheless, after numerous podiums when she won the first title, she gave the gold medal to her “home trainer” Matthias Krohlas, who has always looked after and advised her over the years - even from a distance.

The "Spiderwoman" was unable to achieve the great goal of participating in the Olympics. But there were still many big highlights in her career. In addition to the international medals, this also included participation with her daughter Lotta at the Hessen Championships in 2015. She dared to make another comeback to take to the mat for the last time at the German team championships in Korb.

“It ends where it began,” were her words. And so she was duly adopted in her home parish and her home association with great sympathy from all those present. She also helped the Württemberg team to third place in these championships. Club mate Tabea Trinkner also belonged to this successful team. The SC Korb had thus successfully concluded the anniversary year "110 Years of Wrestling".

Not quite, because the wrestling season ended with a double championship: promotion to the association league and national class.
