Nils Babin (born April 8, 1987 in Greven ) is a former German handball goalkeeper who played for the second division TV Emsdetten from 2002 to 2016 .

Athletic career

The 1.94 meter tall goalkeeper began playing handball at SC Reckenfeld. In 2002 he switched to the youth team at TV Emsdetten and from 2006 played in the first team. In the 2007/08 season he played in the 1st Bundesliga thanks to a sponsorship license at the Wilhelmshaven HV . He ended his career after the 2015/16 season. In 2019 he made his comeback in the second team of Spvg Versmold .

  • In 2009 Babin was voted “Sportsman of the Year” in Emsdetten .
  • In 2013 he was honored as the “Goalkeeper of the 2012/13 season” of the 2nd Bundesliga . He prevailed in the first goalkeeper election against Kevin Klier ( TSG Friesenheim ) and Jan Štochl ( Bergischer HC ).
  • In the same year he rose with his club, the TV Emsdetten under coach Patrik Liljestrand in the first handball league.
  • In 2013 Nils Babin won the championship with the university team of the WWU Münster . After finishing 2nd at the championships in Leipzig in 2012, they took first place in front of their home crowd in Münster.
