The 2. Handball Bundesliga 2013/14 is the third of the single-track seasons and the 34th season of the second highest German division in men's handball in the history of the 2. Bundesliga . 20 teams play for promotion to the top German league. The season started on August 30, 2013 and ended with the last game day on May 25, 2014.

20 teams play in the " everyone against everyone " mode with one home and one away game. The top three will be promoted to the handball Bundesliga 2014/15 . In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decides. If the goal difference is the same, playoffs are scheduled.

Moved up and down

Newcomers from the 3rd league in 2012/13 are TSV Altenholz , DJK Rimpar Wölfe and HSG Tarp-Wanderup . Relegated from the handball Bundesliga 2012/13 are TV Großwallstadt , TV 1893 Neuhausen and TUSEM Essen .

SG Leutershausen , TSV Altenholz and HSG Tarp-Wanderup were relegated to the 3rd division in 2014/15 at the end of the season . TSG Friesenheim , HC Erlangen and SG BBM Bietigheim made it to the handball Bundesliga in 2014/15 .
