Michael Spatz (born November 25, 1982 in Mannheim ) is a German handball player . He plays for TV Großwallstadt .

Career

At the age of five, Michael Spatz came to play handball at TSV Birkenau . He remained loyal to the club until 1996 when he moved to the neighboring SG Leutershausen . In 2001 he joined the first men's team in Leutershausen, which was then playing in the 2nd handball league . At this time he also played in the junior national team, for which he scored 73 goals in 27 games. He stayed in Leutershausen until 2003, when he moved to VfL Gummersbach. He left in 2007 and Spatz went to TV Großwallstadt. In the 2015/16 season he was under contract with TVB 1898 Stuttgart . After this season, Spatz left the TVB and joined his former association TV Großwallstadt.

Spatz has played twelve international matches for the German national handball team .

Spatz studied at the German Sport University Cologne , but did not graduate. He studied international management at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences . In addition to his work as a handball player, he was employed as a process manager in corporate development. Spatz works for a management consultancy in Aschaffenburg. From December 2016 to September 2017 he was chairman of the TVG Junior Academy.

Spatz has scored more than 2000 goals for TV Großwallstadt so far. He exceeded the mark in the 2018/2019 season.

The 2011/12 season was also a "record season" when Spatz scored a total of 210 goals as a player in the 1st Bundesliga team. No other player has scored more goals for TVG in the first division in one season than Spatz back then.

Spatz ended his career after the 2019/20 season and then became team manager at TV Großwallstadt.

Private

Spatz was married to the handball player Laura Schmitt .
