Dirk Langerbein (born September 9, 1971 in Lippetal ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He works as a goalkeeping coach.

Life

The goalkeeper Dirk Langerbein began in 1977 when the first SC Lippetal with the football game. As a teenager, he moved to Borussia Lippstadt in 1986 . In January 1994 he was signed by the then club division Amicitia Viernheim , with whom he was promoted to the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga . In 1995 Langerbein returned to his homeland to Teutonia Lippstadt , where he played for two more years.

Then second division FC Gütersloh signed him for the 1997/98 season as a substitute goalkeeper behind Adam Matysek . Langerbein made his debut in the second half of the 1998/99 season . Matysek was seriously injured right at the start of the season, after which Michael Kraft , a newcomer from 1. FC Köln, had received his trust. Under coach Jürgen Gelsdorf , Langerbein received the trust in the relegation-threatened Güterslohern, but then had to relegate with FC to the Regionalliga West / Südwest . In February 2000, in the wake of the Gütersloh bankruptcy, he moved to league competitor LR Ahlen , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. Langerbein was now the goalkeeper and mostly played very reliably.

After two years in Ahlen, he went to the second division MSV Duisburg for the 2002/03 season due to a lack of sporting prospects . There coach Pierre Littbarski saw him as equally strong with his competitor Tomasz Bobel . Compared to Bobel, his better footballing qualities spoke for him. Nevertheless, he initially lost the duel against Bobel, as he did not deliver a good performance on his first appearance for Duisburg on matchday 2 and had to concede four goals. But after a mistake by Bobel, Langerbein was back between the posts from the seventh game day. The competition against Bobel decided an injury to Bobel, but Langerbein remained controversial. Coach Littbarski denied his fitness for sport and publicly commented on Langerbein: "He's satisfied when he gets three meals a day." In November Littbarski was replaced by Bernard Dietz as coach, Langerbein remained Duisburg's regular goalkeeper and went as such into the 2003/04 season , in which for the first time since 2000/01 he was able to play all 34 competitive games again. But this season, too, his coach Norbert Meier was not always satisfied. and for the 2004/05 season Langerbein found himself on the bench behind newcomer Georg Koch .

Since he was now without a chance of a job at Duisburg, Dirk Langerbein was happy to take advantage of an offer from 1. FC Nürnberg to move to the Bundesliga at the age of 33 during the winter break of the 2004/05 season . In Nuremberg, regular goalkeeper Raphael Schäfer was injured for a longer period of time and the club wanted another experienced goalkeeper in the backhand if substitute goalkeeper Daniel Klewer should also be absent . Just a few weeks later, this precaution proved correct. Because of Klewer's adductor problems, Langerbein made his debut in the 1st Bundesliga on March 6, 2005 at the age of 33 and received good reviews thanks to excellent parades. Two more games followed with good performances before goalkeeper Schäfer was fit again. After relegation, the FCN offered him a contract as a standby professional with the prospect of becoming a goalkeeper coach. Langerbein declined because he wanted to continue playing and instead switched to the regional division Rot-Weiss Essen .

At Rot-Weiss Essen, however, things didn't go well for Langerbein. Although it began as the undisputed number one, it quickly came under fire after a few mistakes. After an injury, André Maczkowiak came into play, who stayed in goal even after Langerbein's recovery. Only during Maczkowiak's interim injury break did Langerbein return for six games. Although he stayed in the club after the Essen promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, he was only the fourth goalkeeper.

On January 30, 2007 Langerbein signed a contract until 2008 with the 2nd Bundesliga club Rot Weiss Ahlen (formerly LR Ahlen). With that he returned to Ahlen after almost four years. From July 1, 2009 he worked there as a goalkeeping coach. After the end of the 2009/10 season , in which he was still available as a standby goalkeeper, he ended his career. After the bankruptcy of Ahlen in May 2011, Langerbein's contract as goalkeeper coach was terminated. In June 2011 he trained the goalkeepers at the Association of Contract Footballers and was active there until September 9th. On September 9, 2011 he got a two-month job as a goalkeeping coach at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. The goalkeeping coach job in Oberhausen ended on November 1, 2011.

On June 26, 2012 Langerbein was introduced as the new goalkeeping coach of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen .

In addition to the three Bundesliga games for Nuremberg, Langerbein also played 141 games in the 2nd Bundesliga (as of December 15, 2008).
