André Maczkowiak (born April 1, 1983 in Leverkusen ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach.

Career

During his youth, the 1.90 m tall goalkeeper played for 1. FC Monheim , KFC Uerdingen 05 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen , before moving to 1. FC Köln in 2002 and playing in their second team. There he played a total of 27 games in the Regionalliga Nord until 2005 . In 2005 he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen and became number 1 in goal, where he prevailed against Dirk Langerbein . After he had made promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Essenes , the club signed another goalkeeper, Karim Zaza , who ousted Maczkowiak in goal. He was only used once in the 2nd Bundesliga. On August 20, 2006, the 2nd match day of the 2006/07 season , he was in goal in a 2-0 win against SC Freiburg .

After a year at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , he returned to Hafenstrasse. After the club went bankrupt, Maczkowiak left Rot-Weiss Essen and moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen . When this club had to accept relegation from the 3rd division , Maczkowiak was initially without a club; in November 2011 he then joined the regional league team Sportfreunde Lotte . He played two games for Lotte, but did not receive a new contract for the 2012/13 season. He then joined his youth club 1. FC Monheim , with whom he rose from the district league to the Lower Rhine regional league in 2013. After relegation just a year later, he made it through with the team from 2015 to 2017 from the district league to the Oberliga Niederrhein . Due to a serious shoulder injury, however, he missed the decisive games for the league promotion and switched to the position of assistant coach for the 2017/18 season.
