The Spvg Plettenberg (officially: Sportvereinigung Plettenberg 1911 eV ) was a sports club from Plettenberg in the Märkisches Kreis . The first soccer team played a year in the highest Westphalian amateur league.

history

The club was founded on October 3, 1911 as FC Hohenzollern Plettenberg . In the same year a club called the Plettenberg Sports Association was founded. Both clubs merged in early 1919 to form Edelweiß Plettenberg , which was renamed the Plettenberg Sports Club just a few months later . On February 5, 1919, another club was founded with the FC Grüne , which merged with the sports club in April 1923 to form the Plettenberg 1919 sports association . This played in the years 1926/27 and 1931/32 for one year in the top division.

After the end of the war , the Spvg was promoted to the district class in 1950. Six years later, the team rose to the then fourth-class state league , where the Plettenberg team immediately became runner-up behind SuS Hüsten 09 . The team took part in the promotion round to the Association League Westphalia , but failed there because of Teutonia Lippstadt . The rise finally succeeded in 1959. In the course of the season, the TuS Warstein could be defeated 11: 2. The affiliation to the highest Westphalian amateur league ended after a year when the Spvg had to return to the state league as the bottom of the table.

In 1965, he was relegated to the district class, before moving up again in 1967. The Plettenberger immediately became runner-up in the Landesliga 2 behind TuS Iserlohn . In 1977, the Spvg rose again and in 1986 had to go to the district league A. Two years later, he was promoted to the district league again.
