Otto Schweisfurth

Otto Schweisfurth (born April 21, 1916 in Horst ; † December 30, 2001 ) was a German football player who spent his most successful years at FC Schalke 04 , with whom he was three times German champion.

Career

Schweisfurth played for the first Schalke team at the age of 19 and, as a central defender, was soon one of the main players in the defense . In 1937 he won the double with Schalke ; after a serious injury he fought his way back into the team and was back in the final of the German championship in both 1939 and 1942 ; In 1940 he could not take part in the final because he was doing military service in France. In the same spring he was a guest player at Hamburger SV .

In 1948 Schweisfurth moved to Prussia Hochlarmark in Recklinghausen for one season , where he also took a job as a commercial clerk. He later worked for various clubs, including TSG Sprockhövel in 1950 and later SpVgg Erkenschwick , as a coach.
