The Herringer SV (officially: Spielverein Herringen von 1922 eV ) was a sports club from Hamm . The first soccer team played for twelve years in the highest Westphalian amateur league.

history

The club was founded in 1922 and from 1950 played in the Glück Auf Stadium , which opened with a friendly match with the then reigning German champions VfR Mannheim . The Heinrich-Robert colliery provided support during construction . In 1952 he was promoted to the state league , which was the highest Westphalian amateur league at the time. Just two years later, the team was runner-up behind TuRa Bergkamen . In 1956, the team qualified as third in the table for the newly created Association League Westphalia , from which the Herringer had to relegate promptly. The direct resurgence was missed as runner-up behind TSG Rheda . It was not until 1963 that they were promoted to the association league, where the team reached its sporting zenith in the 1966/67 season as sixth in the table.

In 1970, he was relegated to the regional league, where the team was almost passed through to the district league. The renewed promotion to the association league succeeded in 1976. Two years later, the team missed the newly created Oberliga Westfalen , but was the sporting number one in the city for the first time after the relegation of Hammer SpVg . In 1979, however, the Herringer relegated to the state league and were immediately passed through to the district league. With one point ahead of the SVA Bockum-Hövel , the direct ascent was achieved. From 1981 to 1983 the Herringer played again in the national league before the team slipped down to the district league A in 1985. After a district league comeback in the period from 1987 to 1989, the Herringe were able to firmly establish themselves in the district league again from 1993. In 1997, the team was runner-up behind TSV Victoria Clarholz , before relegated to the district league A in 2001.

Successor club SV Fortuna Herringen

In 2003 the Herringer SV merged with Fortuna Herringen to form SV Fortuna Herringen . The new club started in the district league A and made it to the district league five years later. There, after two third places, SV Fortuna became runner-up behind BSV Menden in 2013 and failed in the promotion round to the regional league in the semifinals with 0-2 to Rot-Weiß Deuten . Since relegation in 2015, the team has played in the district league A.
