BSV Menden

The Ball-Sportverein Menden (short: BSV Menden ) is a football club of the city of Menden in the Sauerland . The team plays in the Huckenohl Stadium on Oesberner Weg.

SuS Menden 09

SuS Menden 09 had previously achieved promotion to the highest amateur class, the Landesliga Westfalen , in 1947 . This was second class until 1949, before a single-track 2nd division was introduced below the first-class Oberliga West and one was third class. Until 1957 the SuS was able to stay in the national league, in 1956 they missed the relay victory only in the decider against the Sportfreunde Siegen . Temporarily succeeded in returning to the amateur league for the 1958/59 season, and then again in 1961. With the introduction of the Bundesliga , however, they slipped into the fourth division.

The predecessor club SuS Menden 09 played the most important game on June 5, 1954 in the DFB Cup competition. The game against the then reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund was canceled in the 4th minute of extra time due to darkness when the score was 1: 1. The Mendener , who was trained by Willi Multhaup at the time, lost the replay at the Rote Erde stadium in Dortmund with 0-2.

BSV Menden

In 1973 SuS Menden 09 merged with the Alemannia Menden association in 1901 . From 1992 to 1997 the BSV played in the association league. In the 2005/06 season, the team succeeded in advancing from the regional league to the association league , and in the following season the club rose again. After relegation in 2012, BSV Menden played in the district league, but managed to get promoted again in the following season.
