TB Eickel was the name of two former sports clubs from Herne . The first soccer team of the TB 12 Eickel played one year in the then second class II. Division West , while the soccer players of the TB 54 Eickel played for six years in the Association League Westphalia .
history
TB 12 Eickel
The first association called TB Eickel was founded in 1912 on the initiative of the Eickel citizenship. A few weeks later, the footballers of the Spiel und Sport Eickel club joined the TB after their playing area had been withdrawn. The TB 12 Eickel played in the second-rate district class in the 1930s and was runner-up behind MBV Linden 05 in 1939 . In 1948 they were promoted to the then second-class Landesliga Westfalen , where the team was fourth in the table for the newly created II. Division West . There the team reached tenth place in the 1949/50 season . On December 10, 1950, the TB 12 Eickel merged with the SV Preußen Wanne to form Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel . The merger took place for financial reasons and was rejected by the TB members.
TB 54 Eickel
After internal quarrels between the members from the Wanne and Eickel districts , the TB 54 Eickel split off from the Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel in 1953 , which referred to the tradition of the TB 12 Eickel . While the sports fans plunged into the district class, the TB 54 was able to reach the then third-class Westphalia Association after four ascents in a row in 1961. There the upswing stalled and the team fluctuated between mediocrity and relegation battle. The club produced a German amateur national player in Hans-Jürgen Bradler , while Harry Bohrmann and Hans Schumacher became Bundesliga players . DSC Wanne-Eickel was founded on October 5, 1969 at the instigation of the building contractor Robert Heitkamp , and the TB 54 Eickel joined it on the same day.
