Beacon Square is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pasco County in the US state of Florida with 7224 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Beacon Square is on the Gulf of Mexico , around 60 km west of Dade City and around 40 km northwest of Tampa . The CDP is affected by US Highway 19 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 7,224 inhabitants were distributed over 4,130 households. The population density was 1389.2 inh / km². 90.2% of the population identified themselves as whites, 3.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.6% as Asian Americans . 2.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.5% to several ethnic groups. 9.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 38.6% of all households lived in 24.5% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 58.1% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.22 people and the average family size was 2.78 people.

21.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 29.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 45 years. 47.7% of the population were male and 52.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 36,250, with 14.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.30% of the population, 2.74% spoke Spanish and 4.96% had another mother tongue.

There is no industry worth mentioning. The main branches of employment are: education, health and social affairs: (26.2%), trade / retail: (16.3%), future technologies, management, administration: (11.8%).

The city itself does not have a clinic. For medical treatment that requires an outpatient or inpatient stay, residents must visit one of the surrounding clinics: North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey , about 3 miles away, Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs , about 5 miles away, or the Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center in Hudson , approximately 20 km away.

Parks and sports facilities
