Odessa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pasco County in the US state of Florida with 7267 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Odessa is about 40 km southwest of Dade City and about 30 km north of Tampa . Florida State Roads 54 and 589 ( Suncoast Parkway , toll road) cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 7,267 inhabitants were distributed over 2,889 households. The population density was 530.4 inh / km². 87.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 4.1% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 4.1% as Asian Americans . 1.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 13.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 lived in 41.0% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 17.0% of all households. 76.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.76 people and the average family size was 3.12 people.

29.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 32.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 13.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 38 years. 50.0% of the population were male and 50.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 65,510, with 7.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.76% of the population, 3.46% spoke Spanish and 0.82% spoke German .
