Elfers is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pasco County in the US state of Florida with 13,986 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Elfers is located approximately 60 km southwest of Dade City and approximately 45 km northwest of Tampa . In the CDP which leads Florida State Road 54 in the US Highway 19 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,986 inhabitants were distributed over 6,813 households. The population density was 1536.9 inh / km². 89.3% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.1% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 2.0% as Asian Americans . 2.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.4% to several ethnic groups. 11.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 30.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 33.6% of all households. 62.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.40 people and the average family size was 2.94 people.

24.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 41 years. 47.9% of the population were male and 52.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 32,743, with 22.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 91.08% of the population, 4.83% spoke Spanish and 4.09% had another mother tongue.
