David Henry Brassey, 3rd Baron Brassey of Apethorpe OBE , JP , DL ( September 16, 1932 - May 7, 2015 ) was a British peer , soldier and politician of the Conservative Party .

life and career

Brassey was born on September 16, 1932, the son of Bernard Brassey, 2nd Baron Brassey of Apethorpe (1905-1967) and his wife Crystal Gloria Gore († 1962). He has a younger brother. Brassey attended the Stowe School in Buckingham .

He served in the Grenadier Guards and achieved the rank of major . In 1967 he left the military.

In 1970 Brassey magistrate ( Justice of the Peace ) for Northamptonshire . There he was DL in 1972 . He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1994. Brassey lived in Cambridgeshire .

Membership in the House of Lords

After his father's death in 1967, he inherited the title of Baron Brassey of Apethorpe and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . He was not present in the 1997/1998 session; he did not take the oath either.

Its membership ended by the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for any of the remaining seats.

He was a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association . He was not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

family

Brassey married Myrna Elizabeth Baskervyle-Glegg on October 15, 1958, the daughter of Lt.-Col. John Baskervyle-Glegg and Ethne Woollan. With her he has a son. She died in 1974.

In his second marriage from October 17, 1978, he was with Caroline Evill (* 1944), daughter of Lt.-Col. Godfrey Ariel Evill (1906–1983) and Nesta Herbert (1910–2002) married. They have two daughters.
