Buckingham [ ˈbʌkɪŋəm ] is a town in the north of the English county of Buckinghamshire , about 10 km from the border with Northamptonshire . Originally Buckingham was the county's capital; but this is Aylesbury today . The city has 12,043 inhabitants (2011).
Buckingham is home to Great Britain's first of five private universities , the University of Buckingham .
Nearby are the towns of Aylesbury , Bicester , Brackley , Milton Keynes and Towcester .
