Duke of Buckingham and Normanby was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of England .

The Dukes' family seat was Buckingham House in Westminster , London .

Award

The title was bestowed on March 23, 1703 to John Sheffield, 1st Marquess of Normanby . He had already been raised to Marquess of Normanby on May 10, 1694 and had inherited the titles of 3rd Earl of Mulgrave and 5th Baron Sheffield from his father in 1658 .

The titles expired when his youngest son, the 2nd duke, died childless on October 30, 1735.
