Neil Alberico
Neil Alberico (born October 7, 1992 in Los Gatos , California ) is an American racing driver .
Career
Alberico began his motorsport career in karting in 2004 , where he remained active until 2011. After participating in individual local formula racing races in the United States in 2009 and 2010 , he made his debut in the British Formula Ford in 2011 . He finished the season in ninth place overall.
In 2012 Alberico returned to the United States and received a cockpit for the US F2000 National Championship at JDC Motorsports . He finished seventh in the winter and main series. After the end of the season, he took part in two races of the F1600 Championship Series for Cape Motorsports w / Wayne Taylor Racing , where he was third both times. In 2013 Alberico also contested the US F2000 National Championship for Cape Motorsports w / Wayne Taylor Racing. He won five of the six races and came second once. He won the championship with 186 to 157 points in front of his teammate Scott Hargrove . In the main series too, Alberico was the driver with the most races won with six wins. Nevertheless, he was defeated here Hargrove with 277 to 294 points and was second overall.
In 2014 Alberico started in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. Starting for Victory Motor Racing , he reached 15th place overall. He then drove for Cape Motorsports w / Wayne Taylor Racing in the Pro Mazda Championship . Hargrove was his teammate again. In the winter series, Alberico was ninth at the end of the season, while Hargrove was second overall. In the main series, three second places were Alberico's best results. He finished the championship one position behind Hargrove in third place. In 2015, Alberico contested his second season in the Pro Mazda Championship for Cape Motorsports w / Wayne Taylor Racing. He won four races and was on the podium a total of eight times. With 302 to 355 points he was defeated by Santiago Urrutia and finished second overall.
In 2016 Alberico switched to Carlin in Indy Lights . While his teammate Ed Jones won the championship, he reached eleventh place in the overall standings with fifth place as the best individual placement.
Personal
Alberico's great-grandparents immigrated to the United States from Italy, changing their last name from Alberigo to Alberico . During his time in European motorsport, he shared an apartment with Felix Serralles .
