Village church in Sommerstorf

The village church in Sommerstorf , a district of Grabowhöfe in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , is a Gothic brick building on a field stone base from around 1300. The tower and the southern vestibule were probably built from field stones at the beginning of the 15th century.

Up until the Thirty Years' War , Sommerstorf had its own parish office, after which the parish was a branch of Vielist . The most famous baptized person in the church is the poet Johann Heinrich Voss (1751–1826).

The interior of the nave has two bays with ribbed vaults . The east gable shows pointed arches and cross panels on the outside . The vestibule also has a screen gable .

The baroque pulpit altar dates from the late 18th century. It is adorned with 13 carved figures of Christ and the 12 apostles , which come from an older altar from around 1500. The furnishings also include an offering box from the 17th century. Of the original three bells, a bronze bell from 1893, cast by C. Oberg, has survived.
